"An educational collaboration allowing the meeting between a choir and professional musicians specializing in the Middle Ages around joyful and lively music!"

The enigmatic term of the "Llibre Vermell de Montserrat" refers to a collection of stories, miracles, sermons and papal bulls written in the last quarter of the 14th century for the use of pilgrims to Montserrat, an abbey located in a remarkable site in Catalonia, an important place of pilgrimage, but also a very active cultural center, with a well-stocked library.

The ten musical works of the manuscript allow us to approach a new universe for many choristers: the notation of the facsimile, the role of the voices, the function of the songs, their form (ballad, virelai, song) the instrumental accompaniment of the fiddles, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, harp and other percussion...

A first for most of them, because the Middle Ages in general are clearly absent from the repertoire of choirs. Beyond these new musical or technical aspects, the meeting is also very rich for the members of Diabolus in Musica. Transmitting our music through very concrete learning is a permanent mission of our ensemble that is close to our hearts.

Work sessions to be planned with the choir before the concert.
